Towing Titan Trailers with a 2010 Toyota Tundra

I towed the Titan dump trailer (picture left)
back from Kansas with the Toyota Tundra and the new 4.6L V-8.
Also towed some Titan horse and stock trailers when I toured the
factory in Waterville Kansas. The power of the 5.7L V-8 is
awesome and a great towing combination with the 6-speed auto and
4.30 axle ratio, but with fuel prices uncertain, we need
options. The MaxCrew from Toyota is the cat's meow with room
close to a Ram MegaCab but with a power rear window that makes
the whole window disappear, (great for camera shots on the go.)
Toyota has bragging rights for paint done right on trucks, Titan Trailers does the quality paint
finish. |

The 4.6L is not as fast off the line
as big brother 5.7L. But once rolling it accelerates well on the highway. I
towed trailers over 400 miles with this Tundra and feel comfortable towing close
to the 8100 lb. trailer capacity from Toyota. The 4.10 rear axle ratio helped on
the bottom end of the torque curve. 310 hp and 327 ft. lbs of torque from the
4.6L V-8 is good for an every day truck. For heavier trailers or more mountain
grades, the 5.7L V-8 would be a better choice. So do you need more capacity or
better fuel mileage?
EPA fuel economy estimates for the 4.6L
gas engine is 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway.
