This is what I love about having a web site. I get to tell everyone what I think! Well we all need batteries, especially diesel trucks, why not have the best. Back on my farm-ranch in a time long ago, I used a lot of batteries. With 3 tractors and 3 trucks that had to start no matter how cold it was, I learned what worked and what made me walk home! I was so tickled when these Optima batteries first came out. Back then they were called Gates batteries from the Gates Rubber Company in Denver. They cost a little more than the average battery and it took the local dealer some talking, to get me to try them. Diesel farm tractors in the seventies were all going from 24 volt with 4 batteries to 12 volt systems with 2 batteries. With these new batteries I was able to run my diesel tractors on just one battery. I was amazed at the power and reserve power these "red top" batteries had. Back then they had commercials there they shot the batteries with a large handgun and hung them upside down and they still worked. Well I never got drunk enough to shoot my batteries but I couldn't hurt them either. On feed trucks I hooked up a lot of electrical wires directly to the batteries for juice to electric motors and anything else I needed. With gel inside these batteries, instead of acid and water, they never corroded. On a diesel tractors, corrosion on the terminals was common in batteries. Especially when you cranked the starters a lot in winter, you had corrosion. And charging all the time after a long time starting boiled out the water. If you didn't maintain your batteries by cleaning the terminals and refilling with water, the other batteries didn't last long. These Optima batteries are maintenance free. I know you've heard that before from the "other" guys. Yeah I know they just hid the fill holes where you still had to add water. I have several farmer friends who run all their machinery on these Optima batteries and move them from machine to machine depending on which harvest is going on. Your truck was built to last a long time. Why not get a battery that will keep up with it. For the best batteries at the best price click here and there.
